Inspection and Testing
First, visual inspection is one of the most basic detection methods. By directly observing the battery shell, check whether there are obvious signs of physical damage such as bulging, deformation, leakage, etc. At the same time, check whether the battery connectors, cables and connectors are firm and have no corrosion or damage to ensure that the battery connection is good to avoid malfunctions caused by poor contact.
Voltage testing is also a common detection method. Use a multimeter to measure the voltage of the battery cells to ensure that it is within the normal range. For series battery packs, it is also necessary to check whether the voltages of all cells are consistent. If there is a significant difference, it may mean that there are cells with inconsistent performance in the battery pack, and further investigation is needed, such as battery aging, self-discharge and other problems.
Internal resistance test can reflect the health status of the battery. The size of the internal resistance will affect the charging and discharging efficiency of the battery. High internal resistance usually means that the battery may be aged or damaged. With the help of a dedicated internal resistance tester, the internal resistance value of the battery can be accurately measured and compared with the standard value provided by the manufacturer to detect potential problems in time.
Capacity testing is an important method for evaluating the actual energy storage capacity of batteries. Common capacity testing methods include constant current discharge method, constant voltage charging method, and the use of capacity testers. Through these methods, the capacity of the battery can be accurately measured and compared with the nominal capacity, so as to understand the battery attenuation and provide car owners with a reference for the remaining battery life.
In addition, BMS system monitoring is also an important part of new energy vehicle battery testing. Most modern new energy vehicles are equipped with a battery management system that can monitor battery capacity, voltage, temperature and other parameters in real time. Car owners can view this data through the vehicle's central control display or related mobile phone applications to understand the battery capacity change trend and health status, and detect abnormal conditions in a timely manner.
In addition to the conventional testing methods mentioned above, some professional testing institutions or repair shops will also use more in-depth testing methods such as cycle life testing, comparison method, software diagnosis, etc. to comprehensively evaluate the performance and potential problems of the battery. In short, new energy vehicle battery testing is a comprehensive task that requires a combination of multiple testing methods to accurately determine the status of the battery and provide strong protection for the safe operation of new energy vehicles.
